The cod is a species of Gadiformes. This sea schooling fish with a greenish-brown speckled back and white belly has three dorsals and a small barb on the chin. The white firm cod meat is also valued for its complete protein with a full set of amino acids. It has a low calorific value and saturates the body with the mass of useful substances. The cod is especially rich in vitamin B12. It also contains phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, potassium, zinc, iodine and biotin that is involved in fat metabolism
